Hello Vanessa, Science of People and Everyone,
When I started reading all the comments I realised that I would be repeating what everybody said so far... But still, here I come.
My name is Veronika, I am an English teacher from Hungary. I love English language so much that I can hardly express it. Teaching it is my passion. A year ago I realised that what I love most in teaching English (and it seems that I am at my best when I do this) is when I have to prepare people for stressful verbal situations, e. g. interviews, exams, etc.
I loved English since I started learning it in elementary school. I put lots of effort in it, I studied hard but still, I could hardly speak it. Then at the age of 18 I spent 2 weeks in a special language school and suddenly all my hidden knowledge came to surface. I was fluent in English and I was deliriously happy. It was a turning point for me. I realised that in our education students study a lot but by the end of their studies their self esteem is usually very low. They seem to know little but in fact a little help can bring that vast knowledge alive. I meet students on a daily basis who struggle with the problems I had and it is truly a life-changing experince to be the person who helps them bring out their best self. To see in them what they cannot see, the hidden potential and witnessing their AHA momentsduring the process , when they realise they are more than what they thought.
In the last couple of years I started watching body language videos and incorporated them in my methods. I used Amy Cuddy's tips on how to us power poses before stressful situations. When I started watching Vanessa's videos, I had my own Aha moments as well. I started to bring them to my Business English classes. When I saw that a Trainer program would start, I literally couldn't sleep, I was so excited.
It breaks my heart, how talented, smart, precious people struggle with their self esteem and it is pure joy when I can be a means of their transformation of becoming their true selves.
Reading the comments made me realise how many people share the same passion for empowering people. It is really uplifting.
Have a nice weekend, Veronika
