Thanks much for offering this opportunity.
I took your people skills class on CreativeLive the month of Oct and absolutely LOVED IT! This prompted me to check out your website and was super excited to see this opportunity to work with you in such a meaningful way.
I wholeheartedly believe, as you do, that harnessing the power of people skills can be life changing.
I have a degree in Linguistics and have always been fascinated with human interaction and communication, both verbal and non verbal. Although I didn't pursue an academic research career, I've always tried to incorporate these topics into the work I do as a educator and multimedia designer.
I am a Digital Strategist for Non-profits. I help them utilize technology to further their message. I am particularly passionate about working with organizations that focus on advancing women in technology and leadership roles. This often includes some sort of discussion of around people skills as it relates to gender bias, cultural bias, and strategies for overcoming these issues.
Currently, I am working on two wonderful projects, NSF funded, Tools for Change: A Project for Boosting the Retention of Women in the Academic STEM Pipeline (www.toolsforchangeinstem.org) and Women's Leadership Edge (www.womensleadershipedge.org), a membership program for organization that want to attract, retain, and advance women, offered through the Center for WorkLife Law at UC Hastings College of the Law.
I could go on and on about how much I love what you do and how I would love to work with you, but I'm sure there will be many more opportunities to get to know each other.
For now, I'll leave you with 3 things I think I can do to help support Science of People.
As a Digital Strategist and Multimedia Designer, I have a advance skills in web design, video, and online marketing. I am happy to share these skills and knowledge.
I have experience as a trainer, and group facilitator. I have taught tech, leadership, and personal branding seminars, for youth and adults. I am capable of distilling complex technologies and or research into understandable chunks that can be taught to groups.
I like to have fun, and think that fun and joy should be part of everything we do. I feel like you're into that too.
Thanks again Vanessa for all that you do!
