It’s generally accepted (in these circles) that people are influenced by their own actions and in particular that if one lies this has a negative impact on their own self image. Also It’s widely accepted that lawyers are in general not trustworthy.
In addition, please acknowledge that in Belgium there are a lot of lawyers who suffer from depression or similar illnesses. Also quite a lot of lawyers suffer from a lack of income (this might be a very local Belgium problem).
Is it possible that there is a connection between these two things?
It seems plausible that a lawyer who goes out to court to defend a case with arguments he doesn’t believe himself does harm his own self image while at the same time hurts the public image of the profession as well has his own image (towards potential clients, …)
